Trump says to Mexico: "Something very dramatic could happen"
A day after the talks with a Mexican delegation in the White House on the threat of tariffs, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, said that "many progresses" were made, but that he is prepared to take "dramatic" measures against the Latin American country.
"I think a lot of progress was made yesterday," Trump said in Ireland before leaving for Normandy.
"Something very dramatic could happen," Trump said. "We have told Mexico that tariffs continue. And we mean it. "
Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on all Mexican products that will increase if the Latin American country does not take measures to stop illegal border crossings.
In his brief comments at the Shannon airport, Trump criticized the Democrats for not taking the legislative steps that would help alleviate the increase in the number of border crossings.
"The Democrats in Congress have been a disaster," Trump said.
"They do not care what kind of record they have," he continued. "We could solve this problem so easily if the Democrats in Congress were willing to make some changes."
"They could not care less. Everything is politics, "he said.
